We left Spain and headed off to south Portugal to walk around the Algarve. We drove directly to the South West to do three walks Julie described in her book.

We use a lot of trekking guides, and also a lot by Cicerone. Generally they are very good, but they do vary. This is by far the worse we have ever used. If it wasn’t in the Algarve where you are never more than a few kilometres from civilisation it would be downright dangerous. So here is our book review;
What’s in the bag
It doesn’t matter what sort of walk we go on, we always take a few essentials along with us. These items are weather independent, and what we consider an absolute must for any trek. Most of them don’t take up any room, but can be lifesavers.

One thing Susana and I like about our trekking is the kit. We have also had to get loads more for this trip with Dora. We have a lot of it, all is necessary. We thought we would share some of our experiences with it with some reviews and descriptions.
