We have come to Assisi as it is the starting point for a walk. The problem is there was this bloke Francis (Francisco if you are Italian or Spanish) and he followed a cult, the christian catholic cult. This could be interesting!
Italy
Orvieto, not just the wine
Italy’s central landscape has caught us by surprise. We’ve never imagined it would be this beautiful.
Beautiful engineering
Historic hilltop towns, can also be real towns, as we found out in Perugia.
Enchanting but wet medieval town
We were impressed by the cuteness of Lucca and the beauty of Certaldo, two towns unknown to us. Today we visit the famous Siena which is (according to our guide) one of Italy’s most enchanting medieval towns.
First of many
We never intended visiting Lucca, but why not. We are in the vicinity. Let’s take a look.
Marble & Dora gets high
Lets face it, Italy is the home of marble. But still when you get to see where it is made, it is still a shock.
Memories…
Continue along the Riviera de Levante. We like driving. When driving we appreciate the country at a big scale.
Driven mad by Italia
We left the sophistication of the Cote d’Azur behind us, the wealth, the glamour, and we entered Italia. You might think nothing would change. The landscape was the same, the same coastline, the same climate, maybe a different language.
Everything changes.
