Kayaking at Lulworth Cove

Yesterday, Sunday 25th August was a proper day, the first day of wandering. We got the two kayaks, Barco and Barca, out from the belly of Dora. They created a lot of interest from passers-by in the car park at Lulworth cove. I will tell you a little bit more about them in another post later on. It took us twenty minutes setting up, before we hauled them the 400m down to the cove, trying to avoid all the other tourists, thankfully they are very light.

It was beautifully calm, useful, as this is only the second time we have taken them out.

It took us an hour of gentle paddling to cover three kilometres down the coast, around Stair Hole, where some climbers were attempting a tricky overhang, through Durdle Door and finally through Bats Hole.

The seaweed and was particularly beautiful.

It seemed to take longer getting back as we were getting tired. Susana was having fun riding the waves caused by the passing speedboats.

We still had a little energy left late afternoon for a walk near Kingston and Kimmeridge Bay.

The view from Swyre’s Head made up for the few spots of rain. The farmers were particularly busy, must be really long hours this time of year.

Along the coast to Clavell Tower, a Landmark Trust property you can rent out.

Through Kimmeridge and then up Smedmore Hill and back to Dora.

A paraglider hung effortlessly, catching the wide and is swept up the ridge.

Nice to hear from you; hope you had nice holidays. Although our life has changed our Sunday walk routine hasn’t as you can see.

Good luck on your journey. We used to live in Dorset – beautiful county. As we plan our own long-term trip in our campervan – called “El Nido” – we may head down to Dorset for a week or so before crossing the channel.

Have a great time and looking forward to reading your posts.

      Hi Paul,

Thanks a lot. We actually left Dorset yesterday. Heading off towards Wales to spend a week before ending up in Lundy Island.

Good luck you too both. Love this lifestyle already even we have only lived in Dora for four days

Look forward to your stories too

We enjoyed it so much! Second time we took them out. Weather was amazing and it was incredibly peaceful. I am still aching, though.
